Can you help keep our events going?

Rupert asks for your help in keeping the Parish’s annual events going strong each year…

Annual Events in Kentisbeare Parish

Well…… what a fantastic end of the year with carol singing on Xmas Eve in Kentisbeare Square and welcoming 2016 under the lights of the conker tree.

We are very lucky to live in a small vibrant Parish, which has a Church, Post Office/Shop, Pub, very good village halls, sports clubs and also be only a few miles from Junction 28 of the M5, railway stations and Exeter airport.

Each year, villagers can enjoy the Summer Fete, Flower and Horse Shows, various plays concerts and festivals, the charity cricket match, and many events in Blackborough and Sainthill to name but a few. People in nearby villages are quite envious of the ‘Community’ feeling that exists around Kentisbeare to the extent people say ‘There is always something going on in your village’. A substantial amount of money is raised each year for charity through the Wyndham Singers, other organisations and individuals.

These events however do not happen by magic and take a great deal of planning, setting up, running and clearing away. These tasks are mainly carried out by the same committed people who enjoy doing it. Many are retired and are not getting any younger! If the village is to retain and grow these social events in years to come, ‘new blood’ is required to keep them going. New ideas would also be welcome.

If anybody reading this feels that they would like to get more involved with village events, I am happy to take your name, phone number & e-mail address and pass your details onto the relevant people who presently organise village events.

With best wishes for a fun filled 2016.

PS – Thank you to the individual houses, particularly in Parsons Close, whose Christmas lights were fantastic. Worthy successors to George, Alan and David.
